Pad work is a crucial part of boxing and developing your personal boxing skills. A decent pair of pads makes all the difference, both for the coach and boxer.
The Ampro Air Pad is a curved boxing pad and designed with air cushioning to take the big heavy shots. I think curved boxing pads are better because in enables the coach to sort of “catch” the punches. If you are boxing with a flat pad, its more likely that your glove with slip of the pad after hitting it, which leaves you off balance.
For boxing coaches, the Ampro Air Pad has finger covering at the top. This prevents your fingers being clipped by punches that go over the pad. If your fingertips creep over the perimeter of the target, this can be very painful, so its worth getting boxing pads with these coverings!
The Ampro Air Pad is a solid piece of boxing equipment, but at £65 I think you could probably find better value elsewhere. However, if you buy the Ampro Air Pads, I don’t think you will be disappointed, I just think they are slightly overpriced.
What do you think of the Ampro Air Pad?
What do you look for when buying boxing pads?
