The pound for pound new world champion is Filipino boxer Manny Pacquiao. He thanks his fans for all their support. The world pound for pound king is a phrase that describes a fighter at the top of his weight and with the best skill against other fighters. ‘Without them, there is no Manny Pacquiao, without the fans, there is not much inspiration for boxers like me to train harder and give more exciting fights,’ the champion says referring to his fans after being named the pound for pound king.

Ring magazine, the so called bible for American boxing fans, has also named Pacquiao as the successor to Floyd Mayweather at the top of the pound for pound league.“I know my responsibility to the sport is to maintain a high level of competitiveness and to be its Ambassador of Goodwill wherever I go and whatever I do, especially on top of the ring”, said Pacquiao.

Pacquiao is now in the preparations for a fight with the WBC lightweight king, David Diaz. This will hopefully be a good fight for us to see this new pound for pound king in action.

We have made Pacman the Boxing Daily Pound for Pound No. 1 and we will publish an updated list of the top ten soon.

Do you think Pacquiao deserves this pound for pound title?

Was Floyd Mayweather a better fighter?

  4. Manny is way much better than floyd. Manny is a slugger while floyd is an evader. floyd always evades his opponents by running away from them and running around the ring. I didn’t see actions in his fights. he’s such a boring fighter. He just wait for his opponent to commit a mistake and then he comes in. he’s just good in defense but has no offense, no speed and power like Manny.Mark my words. Manny’s going to destroy him when they meet inside the ring.
