After his victory over Junior Witter, American boxer Timothy Bradley wants to face another British welterweight, but one of a much higher calibre.
In an interview after the fight, Bradley said: “I am ready for everything. I would love to fight Ricky Hatton”.
So could a Hatton – Bradley fight be on the cards soon?
Somehow I don’t think this is too likely. Witter couldn’t get a shot at Hatton, despite trying for over a year, so just because Bradley beat Witter, this does not mean he gets a shot at The Hitman.
However, if Bradley can get a big name fight, or maybe two big fights, with decent, exciting wins in both, there is a possibility that we could see a Hatton – Bradley matchup. But for now Bradley needs to concentrate on making a bigger name for himself, so he can go on to fight boxers of Ricky Hatton’s calibre.
As for Wittter, he needs to get a rematch with Bradley ASAP and win it convincingly to get back in the boxing game. Or else he need another big name fighter to beat, but this will be a hard match to get considering he has just lost to Bradley. A Hatton fight looks very unlikely for Witter now.
