Witter looks good as he retains title

With every fight that I see Witter box in, he seems to just get better and better.

Witter looks good as he retains his world boxing title

Last night he retained his WBC light welterweight world boxing title with a devastating demolition of Arturo Morua of Mexico.

Junior Witter won the fight in the ninth round with 2 minutes and 12 seconds gone.

Witter finish was pretty amazing. Morua looked like he was pretty hurt by a good shot to his body by Witter and so Witter took full advantage of this by unleashing a deadly combination of hooks to both the body and head.

The only reason the Morua survived that was because the ropes were basically holding him up as he was given a standing eight count.

After that Witter wasted no time in going straight back in with a few powerful head shots which forced the referee to end the fight.

After the fight Witter said:
I was a little bit hesitant in there, but I’m happy with the finish. The power eventually came through, just like I knew it would. I was always confident my power would destroy him, and so it did. I hit him with some good body shots, but I realised he was strong and one shot was never going to be enough to knock him out. It had to be a combination.”

What did you think of the fight?

How would you rate Witter’s boxing?

What is the next step in boxing for Junior Witter?

  1. The next step for Witter should be a fight with Hatton.

He has been gunning for a boxing match with Hatton for ages, this victory can’t do his campain any harm!

I would like to see Witter fight Hatton soon, but whether Hatton will fight him or not is another question…

  3. Wish people would stop saying Hatton is avoiding Witter its total BS. The guy hasn’t done anything to prove he is in the same league as Hatton and I defo don’t agree with this article saying he destroyed the mexican cause he really didn’t.

that says it with far less bias imo. Corrales will be a good fight for him and he needs to proove himself in that sort of class before getting a chance of the big payday he has searched for years with Hatton. Guy needs to shut his mouth and proove his worth then maybe the americans might want to watch him fight and the deal can be done.

  4. I think another thing that people are forgetting is that witter is actually older than hatton.
surely if witter was a half decent boxer he would have acheived more by now…
