Polish born; Krzysztof Wlodarczyk, beat his American opponent Steve Cunningham with a points victory to claim the available IBF cruiserweight belt.
Both boxers struggled to achieve the advantage although Cunningham clearly felt that he had done enough to beat his opponent in their fight last night in Warsaw. Wlodarczyk landed with deadly left and a right hooks in the sixth round but Cunningham had the Pole staggering around the ring with flurries of punches in the following two rounds. The judges gave Wlodarczyk a split decision; which only left Cunningham calling for an abrupt rematch; which should be an interesting bout.
Wlodarczyk, in my eyes, deserved to win the bout but in future needs to show a bit more style and technique.
